THE GOSPEL FREES US FROM LIVING FOR APPROVAL 1. People pleasing makes us live inconsistently (vs 11-14). The Gospel is supposed to reshape how we live right now. In Jesus, we have nothing left to prove. 2. The Gospel removes our need to prove ourselves (vs 15-16). We are not accepted by God because we performed well enough, we are accepted by faith in Jesus. 3. The Gospel ends the performance (vs 17-19). 4.Our identity is now found in Jesus (vs 20-21). When Christ defines who we are, no one else has to. Three questions to move beyond Sunday… 1. Whose approval has too much power in your life? 2. Where are you tempted to pretend? 3. Who gets the final say as to who you are?
