BIG IDEA: The Gospel is too important to change
Jesus has done for us what we could never do for ourselves.
THE GOSPEL WE CANNOT CHANGE:
1. The Gospel is something we receive, not something we create (vs 1-5).
The Gospel frees us from trying to earn God’s favor. The Gospel is the Good News about what Jesus has done, not what we do. Salvation is God’s work.
2. Adding to the Gospel changes the Gospel (vs 6-9). Jesus plus anything equals nothing. Jesus plus nothing equals everything.
3. The Gospel must matter more than the approval of people (v 10). Jesus gave Himself for our sins to rescue us, and salvation is received by grace through faith in Him.
MAKING IT PERSONAL:
1. What are you actually trusting in? “God accepts me because…”
2. Identify your ‘Jesus plus’. I know Jesus is enough, but sometimes I live as though I also need …
3. Trust in Christ alone. He is sufficient for everything.

BIG IDEA: Grace forgives our past and gives us an entirely new story.
When Grace changes your story:
1. Grace meets you where you are (vs 13-14). Grace allows us to tell the truth about our past, without continuing to live under its control.
2. Grace changes your direction ( vs 15-16). We are taken from a life of separation from God to a life with God as our destination.
3. Grace gives you a new center. (Vs 16-20). Christianity is about being made new in Christ. It’s about receiving god’s gift of grace.
4. Grace points your story to God. (vs 21-24). How we go through the hard times proves the authenticity of our faith.
Who gets the final word on our story?
1. What part of your resume are you still letting define you?
2. Let grace reframe your past.
3. Let your story point you to Jesus. You can’t change your past, but Jesus can change the place your past occupies in your future.
